A large multi media impasto painting.
Influences was inspired by looking at abstract artists throughout the 20th Century from simple imagery to bold expression of both subject matter and form wherein I produced a painting which started by throwing swathes of impasto acrylic direct from the tuttle against a yellow grounded box canvas & criss-crossing these strokes of flying paint and letting them settle and harden where they lay.
That made a lattice work of marks which I then painted in, over and in between and added acrylic paint and layered over the top alkyd oils and Sennelier pastels ( a wonderful medium ) all eventually sealed.
Influences are there to be seen or found, I had in mind Kandinsky., Picasso, Cesar Manrique, Mr & Mrs Delaunay, Miro, Klimt, Klee, Rothko, Dali, Hoffman and many others.
I thoroughly enjoyed making this original painting and it deserves a good home.
The wind that rocked the cradle
Titled piece to a series of paintings done in my own style and description.
Abstract expressionism is usually about angst and outpouring of purpose - it has it s own genre and following But the passion can be turned inwards, be considered and peaceful, reflective, calm and almost serene if not a beautiful feeling or mood.
These works represent that aim through paint on canvas I wish to engender a connection for the person viewing the abstract image.
Although I ve done quite a few, I have never thought to title one as a badge, a label, a description as of fact. Now I have and I hope just seeing if not possessing the image is enough to start a moment of selfish reflection.
We should all dream, fantasize and wonder how it would be to enjoy peace and be without any woe, whatsoever.
