Mill At Colton
The Peacock can be associated with the Phoenix, which is a perfect reminder that you can rise again with whatever you have been through. This beautiful bird also signifies internal and external qualities that we sometimes need to be reminded of. The Fleur-de-lis symbol depicts the Lily flower and translated to English, symbolises life, light and perfection.
Sardine and Lemon
This is an original acrylic on canvas of an abstract sardine and half a lemon ready to be cooked. The sides of the canvas are painted so this can be hung unframed but I think it would look better in a frame. It is an ideal painting for a kitchen or dining room. A silk protective varnish spray has been applied to protect the paint.
White Winter Monarchs
White Winter Monarchs is a 40x40x1.5 inches large white original oil painting with deer and an owl in a snow covered winter forest. A big red deer stag stands to the left next to a pine tree and behind him is a doe. Over to the right flying between the trees is a white barn owl. The scene is set in a woodland clearing where thick snow lies on the ground leading though a patch of tall thin pine and birch trees. There is an exit in the middle of the painting that the creatures can lead you to or turn you away from. Both deer and owls are often found in folklore and are often credited with being spiritual guides or purveyors of wisdom. I am not sure of the truth of this but they are nevertheless beautiful creatures and do add something spiritual to landscapes. This painting is semi abstract and contemporary in style and began its life as an autumn landscape with deer. Now, however, it is a winter one as I wanted to mute down the oranges of autumn to make a white painting. Painted on wide edge canvas, white edges, no frame needed, ready to hang.
An original contemporary painting of a couple in an eternal embrace. This is the third work in the contemporary series \'Two Become One\'. Acrylic on 24 x 32 inch (60 x 80 cm) high quality deep stretched canvas box frame. Painted sides so can be hung without needing framing. Signed by the artist: D Shawcross. Painting finished with a protective silk spray to prolong the quality of the paint on the canvas.
Nose bag at ea
Modern contemporary painting inspired by English spring gardens. The flowers are raised from the fresh yellow background using textured layers which lets the light catch them, creating a new aspect each time you look at the painting. The fresh colours will complement most colour schemes and the painting continues round the edges of this standard edge canvas so it is ready to hang with no need for framing. This creates a very simple but effective style. This painting has been finished with a protective satin varnish.
The Chalk Path
The Chalk Path is an oil painting of a winding white chalk path through the Sussex countryside in springtime. It is 30x30x1.5 inches and was painted from my memory as I recalled a walk up the South Downs near Ditchling last spring. The path winds through fields and meadows and wildflowers up towards the ridge of hills that make up the Downs in the distance. There is a pink and purple blossom tree on the left among the hedgerows and gorse bushes. The edges of the painting are blended and blurred and the centre of it has bigger and bolder brush strokes to give the feeling of looking into a memory and drawing you into the landscape. One of the things that makes me love paintings is the fact that you can be somewhere else in an instant when you look at one. I liked being here and I am happy that I have captured a moment of my life that I loved and hopefully will make a few other people happy too. Painted on deep edge canvas, white edges, ready to hang.
An imaginary original acrylic painting of a white dove resting on a branch of cherry blossom in a Japanese garden in springtime commissioned for a newly interior designed living space. 80 x 40 cm (32 x 16 inches) 3D deep stretched box canvas. Finished with a satin spray to protect the paint and canvas. I\\\\\\\'m happy to take similar commissions.
