Poppy Field - Large
One of my "large" range of canvases. If you'd like to commission a smaller version of this painting please get in touch. A contemporary painting of a field of fresh, bright poppies. The background is textured with swirls of cream and coffee to set off the bright red petals of the poppies creating a modern style. This is a simple and clean picture that would suit any living space. This painting has been finished with a protective satin varnish.
Flames Of Passion
A perfect present for the one you love!!!!! Created on 3 canvas each measuring 16 in x 20 in, the flames of passion are created in a textured medium and stands out from the canvas. They are then painted over in acrylic paint in yellows, oranges and reds. It is varnished to protect it. The background is black although on the uploaded picture it looks a little bit blue. It is a stunning centre piece for any room, but looks great hung over a bed or sofa! Now reduced by £90
Spring Waits - a large woodland abstract with bluebells, lakes and tre
Spring Waits is 40x40x1.5 inches large oil painting of a woodland clearing in the bluebell season. It is semi abstract and slightly art nouveau in style and has been painted so that some of it is blurred looking and some is sharp. Shapes are hinted at but are not traditionally painted so it looks abstract and yet is very realistic. It was very simply inspired by English spring woodlands in April in the Sussex and Kent area where I regularly walk. You can find thousands of patches of woodland and forests which become most magical when the bluebells and other wildflowers come out. There is tantalizing scent in the air and a wonderful sense of nature in anticipation added to by the first butterflies and bird song and glimpses of deer, foxes and squirrels. What I tried to capture in this painting is the quiet determination of nature to do as it has always done regardless and oblivious to whatever madness the world is dramatizing. If all this painting does is encourage people to go walk in the country somewhere then I am happy. It is painted on deep edge canvas, white edges, no frame needed, ready to hang.
The Ravens Quest - ravens in semi abstract winter landscape
The Ravens Quest is a 40x40 inches large original oil painting on canvas of ravens flying high above a Sussex winter landscape intent on a quest. The style is slightly playful, semi abstract with lots of interesting shapes and bright art nouveau type colours. I often walk around in fields between Forest Row, and Hartfield, in Sussex, and there is a large rookery I often pass which fascinates me and inspired this painting. Ravens, crows and birds generally are the background sound many of us hear all the time but often do not register it as we blank it out - as we do traffic noise. However I can't help wondering what these intelligent birds are saying. Another influence to this painting was a story I saw in the news recently about a girl who receives gifts from crows when she feeds them. I am sure there is more to ravens and crows than we so far know and this is why this painting has a slightly mystical, fairy story narrative to it. I don't know what the ravens quest is but I am sure they have one! This painting is dedicated to birds - my life is better for them - and their continuous background chatter and song - I hear the Elbow song 'The Birds' as I look at it :-) Painted is on deep edge canvas with white edges and is ready to hang.
Ice Tiger - a large oil on canvas by Gill Bustamante of a tiger by a w
Ice Tiger is a 40 x 40 x 1.5 inches large oil painting on canvas of a white tiger in a distant and strange land. The tiger is stalking along a branch to the left while behind her there is gauzy fantastical landscape that hints of trees and waterfalls in a jungle like landscape. It is art nouveau, contemporary expressionistic, semi-abstract in style and was made by layering many colours over one another with the final layer being white. My aim with the painting was to create a land where a tiger could be free. And because tiger survival is a precarious thing right now, I wanted the painting to be whimsical and fleeting and strange. I think I achieved this! The tiger was originally orange and quite traditionally painted but has become distorted and more abstract as I added more layers. This is big fresh painting that will fit well in clean white spaces. It is on deep edge canvas, white edges, no frame needed, ready to hang.
