The Golden Bough
The Golden Bough is a 30x30x1.5 inches contemporary oil painting of an oak tree and a deer in an autumn forest clearing. The painting was created by weaving and layering lots of paint layers in a semi abstract art nouveau style using pale yellows, orange, violets and pinks which give an intriguing glimpse into the heart of a forest. A female deer stands guarding her tree which is an ancient oak matriarch of the forest. The Oak, who has golden leaves, knows exactly what is going on in her wood and has tracked every movement by man and beast over centuries. The painting was inspired by the fact that oak trees and deer do, in fact, have a mystery to them. You always wonder what they would tell you if they would talk. I like the idea of worlds beyond the mundane and have used veils of paint to hint at possible mysteries or fairy tales being revealed. I painted it at this time (Sept 2019) as it is the end of summer and beginning of autumn and it is a palpable change in nature that prompts walks in forests and musings about the stories they could tell :-) Painted on deep edge canvas, white edges, ready to hang. Timeless Meadow - An English Meadow in June
40 x 40 x 1.5 inches large original semi abstract oil painting of a Meadow in June in England. The painting gives a view across a hazy green field full of wildflowers. There are trees to the left through which you can see the hint of a lake and a suggestion of marsh flowers and a stream. Silver birch saplings can been seen further down the field. The flowers are pink and purple like foxgloves and there is a shimmering effect caused by thick vertical paint ridges. I have been walking around Mayfield and Wadhurst and this is my memory impression of the beautiful meadow's around those towns and the slightly dull but hot summer day's that we experience alot in England. Painted on deep edge canvas - edges white, no frame needed.
Sardine and Lemon
This is an original acrylic on canvas of an abstract sardine and half a lemon ready to be cooked. The sides of the canvas are painted so this can be hung unframed but I think it would look better in a frame. It is an ideal painting for a kitchen or dining room. A silk protective varnish spray has been applied to protect the paint.
Something Out Of Nothing A5 FRAMED ORIGINAL WATERCOLOUR (POEM INCLUDED
Original watercolour on A5 Winsor & Newton watercolour paper. The frame is approximately 9 x 11 x 1 inch in size and the painting inside is 5.8 x 8.3 inches with a coloured border around the painting. The poem will be printed out on yellow card and sent to you with your painting. Something out of nothing. My art can't be just abstract, it can't be left to fate, my brain turns it into something; that's a very human trait. We create order where there is none, explanations that fit our view, we see faces in the clouds, it's just what our brains all do! I put eyes into my abstract: my brain told me it looked like a face, but now I prefer it vertically, I see peacocks around the place! The other way looks like a broom in a stable with a red saddle hanging in front of a table!
