Scale Nab, soft sunset (2014)
Description:
Scale Nab is a promontory jutting out from Bempton Cliffs ending in a small sea arch. Here it is seen from the south at sunset. I was attracted by the pinkish colour of the sky and the reflection of soft light and the setting sun on the sea. Most of my paintings on this gallery are painted on standard stretched canvas, but this one is painted on a box canvas and as it fits flush against the wall and is painted on the sides of the canvas it does not need to be framed.

The Silver Birches
Description:
The very latest in my Birch Tree Series.The art work is on 2 12in x 24in chunky canvas.I have used warm shades of creams,chocolate browns and reddish browns in the background.
The birch trees have been painted using a silver paint with brown highlights...the light catches the silver beautifuly and the trees seem to stand out from the canvas.
The paintings will look great in todays modern contemporary homes or the more traditional ones..the canvas come ready to hang with D rings and strings fitted.The artwork is also protected with 3 coats of varnish to protect it!

Scale Nab, Bempton Cliffs. Afternoon effect (2015)
Description:
Bempton Cliffs on the Yorkshire coast famous for huge gatherings of breeding sea birds and is also the site of spectacular rock formations such as Scale Nab. Bempton Cliffs used to be used by the locals for what they called "climming". Someone would be lowered down the face of the cliffs by rope and that person would gather the seabird's eggs which would either be eaten or sold. The practice was outlawed in the late 1950s beginning of the 60s.

Dragonflies and Foxgloves
Description:
This fantasy painting has been created using acrylic , oils and encaustic wax.Its mainly monochrome but I have added some colour in the form of foxgloves and dragonflies using melted wax.
The water and light coming through the trees are created using oil paint--it works well and gives a lovely translucent effect.
The sides are all painted and its been varnished to protect it.
It comes strung ready to hang in the room of your choice!

A relaxing lakeside scene depicting Lac Leman near Geneva and Lausanne in Switzerland. This painting was inspired by a recent hiking holiday in the area and the view of boats sailing out on a flat calm lake as the sun set behind the Jura mountains. Sunrise over the North East Arm of Lake Temagami in Canada (North of Toronto and the Algonquin National Park). I was on a six day canoe expedition in the wilderness and this is a painting based on a photograph taken on the last morning. We'd camped out under the stars and were cooking breakfast on a sun-warmed rock listening to the gentle lap of water against the shore. There were no other sounds at all apart from the breeze rustling the leaves in the trees. I look at this painting and it transports me back to that moment. The painting continues round the edges of this chunky edge box canvas so it is ready to hang with no need for framing. This creates a very simple but effective style.
