Fairyland magic 2
A partner work to Fairyland Magic, same horse but this time in tones of blues, greens and violets accompanied by a butterfly. One of the lighter blue tones is the luscious Manganese blue - very very expensive but worth it because its a simply fabulous shade. Encaustic beeswax on board. Strung and ready to hang. Lovely soft tones of blues and purples in the background and the part outline of a large powerful horse and a butterfly are scraped and coloured into the wax. This work is composed of many layers of different coloured pure beeswax wax, overlaid in parts with silver leaf and scraped back in others to reveal underlying colours. It simply needs a rub with a soft cloth occasionally to bring back the lustre of the pure beeswax, and gradually the wax will harden and cure til this needs doing perhaps once per year. framed in a simple wide wood frame. Encaustic paintings, like all fine artwork should never be hung in direct sunlight. For those people worried about melting, wax melts at 130. in the words of a famous American encaustic artist.. walking the dog in an early winter morning through a stand of birchwoods. The soft blue sky has a gentle haze of lemon and crimson, casting echoing colours through the foreground stream and rocks. Chasing through the leaf litter is a black and white dog, fetching a stick thrown by his owner. Similar colours and style to Woodland Morning, they would form an excellent duo.
