My thanks to Ian Unwin for his amazing reference photograph. A magnificent Sumatran tiger charges towards us through the jungle undergrowth in this pastel painting. Sumatran tigers are the smallest of the five tiger subspecies and have narrow stripes. They are critically endangered, with a wild population of as few as 400 individuals. This pastel painting was created using Panpastels and pastel pencils on Pastelmat board.

Dormición de la Virgen - Part 4
Original charcoal and chalk drawing of Dormition of the Virgin sculpture (Part 4 in the assembly of the artwork in 1934) by Damià Forment. 25cm x 20cm picture within a mounted frame. The work was conceived for the altar of Forgiveness in the old church of Sant Miquel in Barcelona. The theme of the Dormition represents the transit of Mary from her mortal state to one of glory, surrounded by the apostles who are concerned about the situation.
Such a pleasure to do this painting with the colours and the strong caracter of this tiger, It is the second painting I have done of tigers the first is the female which is also shown in my gallery, they could be sold as a pair. This is oil on boxed canvas and painted edges so no need to frame.
