Title: The Dawn of Summer Triptych

Description: This is an original impressionist-style triptych of the spectacular sunrise at Stonehenge on the dawn of the longest day of the year (04.52am June 21st 2010). Acrylic on canvas finished with a silk satin spray to preserve the quality of the painting. It is made up of 3 canvases measuring 16 x 12 inches (406 x 305mm). It will look spectacular in any living space and sadly the warm colours do not project as well on the computer as they do in real life. Painted sides so can be hung without needing framing. This triptych was displayed at the 14th Annual Art Exhibition at the Royal College of Physicians London.

As with all encaustics the smell is wonderful, reminiscent of high summer and bees. It simply needs a rub with a soft cloth occasionally to bring back the lustre of the pure beeswax, and gradually the wax will harden and cure til this needs doing perhaps once per year. Encaustic paintings, like all fine artwork should never be hung in direct sunlight. For those people worried about melting, wax melts at 130. in the words of a famous American encaustic artist..
