White Hares Garden
White Hares Garden is a 30x30 inches oil on canvas of a white hare in an abstract summer meadow full of wildflowers. The white hare looks over her shoulder at us and is surrounded by random plants and flowers all completing to be seen. It was inspired by walking around the fields and meadows of East Sussex in late July. The unharvested fields at this moment look like giant unravelling carpets of flora and fauna and that has influenced how I painted this. The white hare is there because she looks right there. Another influence for this painting was the strange and beautiful landscape paintings of Gustav Klimt who has long been a favourite artist of mine. He had a way of taking very odd viewpoints and making them totally fascinating. It is painted on deep edge canvas, no frame needed and will give you summer forever.

Ambiguous A lot to look at, what do you see? How do you feel when you look at me? Open to more than one interpretation, not having obvious meaning; can I fit into your way of life and evoke some happy feeling? Pleasing colours, textures and shapes, would I look good in the lounge and compliment the drapes? I might look good in your office or to help you meditate; or even in your dining room; look at me as you clear your plate. I may be ambiguous, but put me somewhere conspicuous! What was in the artistâs head when she created me? Now Iâll tell you what she saw; I wonder if itâs what you see? A personality has lots of layers, thatâs what I represent, now you know what Iâm all about, thatâs what my creator meant! Look closely and you will see, layers beneath my transparency!
