Storm at sea
Description:
Created from a photograph taken looking out to a stormy sea off the coast of Northumberland, England. It is created using layers of pan pastel applied with sponges and sponge applicators, with finer detail added using acrylic paint.
It was created after a tasking day of teaching as I looked for some âcalm in the stormâ of the day.

The November Jewel
Description:
The November Jewel is a semi-abstract style panoramic landscape painting of a winter river and kingfisher. It is 48x24x1.5 inches. The painting shows fields and trees on either side of a small river. The colours are white rust, salmon, lilac, brown and green contrasted with the brilliant magical blue of a small kingfisher. Vertical transparent lines add a shimmering ethereal feel to the scene which is both realistic and abstract at the same time. This painting was made after a cold winter walk along a Sussex river where I was delighted to see three kingfishers in different stretches of the river. They looked like beautiful blue jewels against the muted frosty river â hence the title. Painted on deep edge canvas, edges painted to match, ready to hang and comes with certificate of authenticity.

Beautiful Heralds
Description:
Beautiful Heralds is a large glowing seascape painting showing sun, sea and sky and arriving swallows. It is 40x40x1.5 inches. The three swallows are delicately painted in contrast to the beaming sun and clouds behind them and the waves rippling to the shore below them. This is another in series of tributes painted to my favourite birds - catching the moment they arrive from further south to make more swallows in the UK. It is a serene and joyous celebration of the continuation of life and the lengths that nature will go to simply survive. The colours are muted by liberal use of thick white paint but are mostly pale buttery yellow, light blue and lilac. The colours of the swallows reflect the colours seen in the sea and sky. Painted on deep edge canvas, edges white, ready to hang and comes with certificate of authenticity.

Clifftop at sunset

Spring Laburnums on the Preseli Hills

This is a painting of a photo that I took while driving across the mountain last spring.The laburnums are very prolific here and the contrast with the green landscape of fields and moore and the windswept clouds was gorgeous. Sunset over the Welsh coast

This is a painting of the coast of Wales at sunset. The colours were spectacular. I took the photo while we were visiting north Wales and I loved the colours. The painting is oil on canvas and is not framed. It can be hung unframed because the painting continues on the canvas sides. The painting is fairly textured in an attempt to portray the rugged coast if North Wales.
