Echoes of Summer
Description:
Echoes of Summer is an expressive art nouveau style oil painting showing the echoes of swallows in the corner of a meadow. It is 35.5x47x0.5 inches (120x90x1.5cm) semi abstract, decorative and vibrantly coloured. The painting shows elegantly placed trees and flowers with the outlines of swallows diving over them. It is called echoes of summer as this is what swallows are in the UK as they only spend their summerâs here before returning to Africa or Europe. I am always sad to see them go as it means the fragrant heady summer days of birdsong and insect buzzing are over far too soon! It is painted on thin canvas so does need a frame but is ready to hang and comes with certificate of authenticity

Finding a Melody
Description:
Finding a Melody is a vibrantly coloured abstract style oil painting in magical realism style. It is 40x30x1.5inches. The overlapping layers of paint and glazes give this painting an energy and movement which reveals different colours and aspects as the light around it changes. I felt I could hear music as a painted it and it does actually remind me of sheet music â hence the title! Although it stands between abstract and realism, it is still a woodland scene with trees and flowers and a stream or pond hinted at. A small deer stag can be seen watching from the other side of the stream. The colours are placed so that they will complement each other and the vertical lines give the feel of something transcending. Painted on 3D canvas, white edges, ready to hang and comes with certificate of authenticity.

Summer Harbingers
Description:
Summer Harbingers is an explosive, expressive, joyful, energetic painting of poppies and swallows in the corner of a summer meadow. It is 40x40x1.5 inches. The painting shows a bed of red poppies in the foreground in the shade of the tree behind them. The tree is spreading its branches in all directions and gives the painting a dynamism that sums up the feeling of the drama that plays out in summer meadow. Two swallows are adding their own slant to energy that is taking place. The painting style is semi-abstract art-nouveau. The inspiration for it was simply the happiness that I feel in countryside and corners of gardens in England when the sun is out and nature is showing off. It is impossible to capture all the life forms and their activities in the corner of a meadow as there is just too much of it so I have tried, instead, to capture the way it makes me feel. Painted on 3D canvas, white edges, ready to hang and comes with certificate of authenticity.

The Mother Tree
Description:
The Mother Tree is a very large, impasto, semi-abstract oil painting of a tree in a bluebell wood with deer. It is 60x36x1.5 inches. A Mother tree is a matriarch tree in any woodland that is connected to all the others. I came across this one in April 2025 and she was massive and very old and was clearly the queen of that particular patch of woodland. She was on a mound with a stream running past in a hollow glade with other trees all around. The bluebells were coming out and the whole space was a universe quite separate in atmosphere to the path that led in and out of it. I stayed a while in this magical space and it impressed me enough to paint this tree and to try and capture the size and majesty of it. Beneath the tree is a small white deer buck and on the left of the painting, silhouetted against the light, are three female deer. The colours are very pale, muted and neutral with grey, lilac, green and blue shades that reflect differently throughout the day as the light hits from different angles giving the painting a slightly ethereal feeling. Painted on deep edge canvas, white edges, no frame needed and ready to hang

A Quiet Drama
Description:
A Quiet Drama is a serene panoramic oil painting of a white egret by a river among trees and blossom and wildflowers. It is 60x30x1.5 inches. The painting style is unique but could be described as semi-abstract style painterly art nouveau. The egret is stretching her wings over the river behind wild garlic and blossom trees and the hint of other riverside flowers. There are trees and fields beyond her but the egret is enclosed in the shade of a quiet river bank just doing what she does. This painting was inspired by my regular walks along parts of the river Medway and celebrates the occasional sighting of a white egret. It is always a pleasure to find these birds as they are so ethereal, white and elegant. I have used the colours of an English springtime (white, pinks, greens, blues and turquoise) to give this painting an ephemeral feeling as May does not last long enough in my opinion! The painting is dedicated to those people helping to get our rivers cleaned up so that wildlife can thrive in them. Painted on deep edge canvas, white edges, no frame needed and ready to hang.

Beltane
Description:
Beltane is a large panoramic oil painting of a woodland glade in springtime with a stream running through it with the hint of bluebells, wildflowers and blossom trees. It is 60x36x1.5 inches. The style of the painting is contemporary with art nouveau elements to it. The viewer is transported into the landscape between two shady banks on either side of a stream with the bluebells and blossom and a clearing beyond. A meadow can be glimpsed through the trees and it shimmers with the possibility of something about to be revealed. I called it Beltane (an ancient celebration of the start of summer made on May 1st) as I was in the area that inspired this painting for me on that day in 2025 (Mayfield in Sussex). I love the birdsong and the abundance of nature in May and could well believe myself transported to some otherworldly place when I was looking at this. It is dedicated to all those with a romantic soul who love landscapes and nature and feel they sound be protected. Painted on deep edge canvas, ready to hang and comes with certificate of authenticity.

One Enchanted Summer
Description:
One Enchanted Summer is a multicoloured semi-abstract landscape painting of a summer meadow with trees and swallows. It is 48x36x1.5 inches. The painting looks entirely abstract from a distance as a myriad of colours burst outwards from the middle of the canvas in pinks, greens, purples, deep blues and yellows. When you look closer however, you see that there are two dancing swallows and pink wildflowers against a backdrop of dark trees with hints at fields beyond them through gaps in the branches. The inspiration for this painting was exploring the many nooks and crannies of the Mayfield and Burwash areas of East Sussex where the viewpoints change swiftly from the streams in the gullies to the rolling hills and small meadows and ancient trees shaped by sheep and deer and old houses and farms that retain their medieval flavour. I often feel I could come across portals to other worlds and enjoy this fantasy as I walk. I think I have conveyed this feeling well in this painting! Painted on deep edge canvas (edges painted to match the painting), ready to hang and comes with certificate of authenticity.

New Beginnings
Description:
New Beginnings is an original oil painting in an ethereal semi-abstract style of a roebuck deer in a woodland glade. It is 36x36x1.5inches. The painting is vibrant and multi-coloured and hints at trees and leaves and dappled light in a spring forest. The roebuck is only half formed and it watching the viewer haughtily as roe deer tend to. Three shapes towards the centre of the canvas form tenuous portals or openings that could lead elsewhere. This painting was inspired by that exact idea. Often, especially in the ancient woodland copses of Sussex, I feel I could turn a corner and be in a whole new world. I like the idea â especially when I find a deer watching me (which is quite often in southern England). Anyone who walks in woodland will know the thrill of looking out from the trees to a clearing or a path beyond and that is the wonder of woodland and possibly one of the reasons so many fairy stories and folklore are founded in forests. Painted on deep edge canvas, ready to hang, no frame needed and comes with certificate of authenticity.

Winter Calling
Description:
Winter Calling is a colourful English winter landscape with snow glimpsed through the last leaves of autumn. It is 36x24x1.5 inches. This painting was made after a winter walk I took near the Mayfield area of Sussex where there are many small hills and vales part of the high Weald (formerly a vast ancient forest in the south of England) . This view was one I came across of a farm on a hill with light snow around it seen from a small woodland. Some of leaves were still on the trees in reds and golds as well as the dark green of ivy on the oak tree trunks. I love the contrast of cold colours to warm colours. Like most of my landscape paintings, this is not an unusual subject but I have nevertheless tried to portray it in a unique way so that some of the longing I feel for such places is expressed (yes, I desperately wish I lived in that farm). The painting is on wide edge canvas painted a muted purple colour which integrates into the edges of the painting and helps propel the viewer into the scenery. Painted on deep edge canvas, ready to hang, no frame needed and comes with certificate of authenticity.

Summer Calling
Description:
Summer Calling is a colourful semi-abstract oil painting of a field of flowers in summertime near the South Downs in Sussex. It is 36x24x1.5 inches. The painting shows lacy white flowers in the foreground which look as if they are in motion. This is a reflection of the feeling I sometimes get in spring and summer that the flowers are ecstatically happy and are giving it everything they have whilst the season allows it. Behind the flowers you can see the view across a meadow towards trees and the hills beyond. This spot is loosely based on a place near Selmeston in Sussex where there is a meadow that looks directly towards the South Downs. I like to walk on the hills but I also love the fields below them where you can walk in quiet farmland undisturbed and just absorb the sounds and scents of the countryside there. The painting is on wide edge canvas painted a muted purple colour which integrates into the edges of the painting and helps propel the viewer into the scenery. Painted on deep edge canvas, ready to hang, no frame needed and comes with certificate of authenticity
