The Inaccuracy of Self Perception

Title: The Inaccuracy of Self Perception
Description: 'The Inaccuracy of Self Perception' is an original oil painting depicting how our own perception of ourselves is often very different from the truth. I can relate to the person in this painting as my weight has fluctuated over the years and the times when I have 'lost the weight', the person looking back in the mirror doesn't seem to change. Painted on pre-stretched canvas and size is 60cm x 60cm (23.6" x 23.6"). All artworks are finished with a varnish for protection. Painting does not include a frame, the image is for illustration purposes only. Please be aware that digital images may have slight colour shifts to original painting. I aim to post out all artwork immediately by Royal Mail Tracked 24®. All artworks come with a certificate of authenticity. Wherever possible, all packaging is recycled.

Artist Biography:

I am an artist based in Norfolk whose art journey began at Costessey High School (now called Ormiston Victory Academy) where I took GCSE Sculpture & Pottery which, upon completion, was awarded with a Grade B. After I left school, my art journey unfortunately took a backseat as I concentrated on my career and setting up my business as an electrical inspector. During the Covid-19 lockdown, I found myself with plenty of spare time and my passion for creating art returned so I set up a small studio in my garage and started to experiment with oils, acrylics and watercolours as well as graphite & charcoal. Ever since, I have tried new techniques and mediums as well as trying different surfaces to paint on. My works mainly consist of landscapes in oils as well as portraiture in charcoal. I use photographs for my references but more recently, I have mainly been painting landscapes/landmarks of my home county of Norfolk as there are so many beautiful locations and scenery.

I enjoy creating any form of art whether it's painting, drawing, collage, sculpture/pottery or using my electrical knowledge to design and create unique table lamps using recycled or upcycled materials such as liquor bottles, jars, galvanized conduit etc. I have also made lamps out of a magazine rack, oscillating fan, electric guitar, curtain poles and so much more.

I learn something new every time I pick up a paintbrush or piece of charcoal and continue to look for new techniques and methods to bring something different to every piece of work I create.

Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoy my art.
