Parys Mountain / Mynydd Parys. This was the site of one of the most productive open cast copper mines in the 18th Century. The evidence of it's workings can still be seen in the colours leaching out into the remaining spoil. The site looks barren but supports wildlife including birds and plant life that can tolerate copper and zinc. A wonderful, mysterious place.
