Llwynrhydowen Chapel 1791

Title: Llwynrhydowen Chapel 1791
Description: Rhydowen chapel was originally built in 1733 by Jenkin Jones an ancestor of Frank Lloyd Wright. It was the first American Chapel in Wales. The above replacement was built in 1791. However, the chapel's minister was a radical who spoke out against the dissolute local squire, trying to support his poor congregation. The squire's reaction was to throw the congregation out and lock the chapel. The chapel is still used occasionally now, but the congregation use their own chapel built on contributions. Artist Biography:

I have lived and worked in Mid Wales for the past 25 years and drawn a great deal of inspiration from the surrounding countryside - which varies greatly from rolling hills to dramatic mountains and glorious coastline.
I am largely self taught but have attended courses run by Aberystwyth Art School when when time permitted. Now I have retired I am able to give my love of painting and drawing my full attention.
I have always painted when time permitted and have produced and sold many art works, mainly through retail and some of my art works have found homes in America, Australia and mainland Europe.
I enjoy working with different media and different styles letting the subject matter direct me in my choices.
