Summer Calls
Description:
Summer Calls is a 16x40x1.5 inches wide panoramic oil on canvas painting of a summer landscape with swallows with an abundance of wildflowers which makes the colours rainbow and very vibrant. This painting represents a fond memory of last summer in the fields near where I live in Forest Row. There is a shallow valley of mostly farmland which attracts swallows each summer and I really enjoy watching them wheeling up and down of over the corn fields which have wildflowers growing at the edges. It has been painted as part of a series of four landscapes about the seasons.

Spring Calls
Description:
Spring Calls is a 16x40x1.5 inches wide panoramic oil on canvas painting of a spring landscape with magpies. It is a semi abstract painting showing two magpies flying over a lake and the marshy wildflower meadows that surround it. The main colours are pink and green and it was inspired by a walk I took around Bewl Water lake in East Sussex last summer. There is a marshy part of the lake where pink flowers bloom and lots of green moss and reeds grow. This is my impression of that day. It has been painted as part of a series of four landscapes about the seasons.

The Arrival
Description:
The Arrival is a 16x40x1.5 inches wide panoramic oil on canvas painting of a spotted male fallow deer running across a semi abstract forest landscape. There are trees behind him and a tree tunnel towards the middle. The stag looks as though he has just touched down and is running to avoid toppling over. He is intent of arriving somewhere. The colours are predominantly orange and green which gives a golden autumn landscape feel to the scene. On deep edge canvas, no frame needed.

Somewhere Waiting
Description:
Somewhere Waiting is a large semi abstract square oil painting of a mythical landscape with deer (40x40x1.5 inches). The stag and three female deer, stand at the centre of the painting and there is a hint of a waterfall below them and trees and mountains above and around them. The deer are small and well defined though slightly nebulous at the same time. I often use this same little posse of deer in my paintings as they seem perfect together. Below the deer, if you look closely, you can see the outline of a much bigger stag who was painted over and has now become part of the waterfall. The painting began with a simple desire to use the colours in it which include magenta, rose, purple, lilac, pale blue, white and golden yellow. The painting worked well as an abstract landscape but I feel it is better with the little deer adding some focus to it. Most of my paintings have a story or memory attached. This one is about the spiritual nature of deer and the idea that maybe they can move between worlds and can act as guides. This idea is common to many cultures and I like it. This painting is on 3D, deep edge canvas, edges white, ready to hang, frame not needed.
