An original oil painting one of a series of 3 similar which have been kept in my private collection and are now released for sale.

It is an abstract painting based on the construct of liquid refraction caused by water flowing down a clear glass window and distorting the visible images seen through that window .i.e rain on a house window.

In a heavy storm sometimes the images unless known cannot be made out save their impression to the mind or opening the window...well that's the idea anyway.

Summer Fragments
Description:
Summer Fragments is a large landscape oil painting inspired by wildflowers and the Sussex South Downs in summertime. It is 36x48x1.5 inches. The painting is contemporary and messy art nouveau in style and shows a riot of wildflowers in the foreground with fields and trees in the distance and the sea beyond that. To the right is an undulating hill which was actually the ancient hill fort of Cissbury Ring. To the left are two red kites flying over the fields. I took a few very long walks in the summer around Chanctonbury Ring (also a hill fort) and Cissbury and fell totally in love with the flowers and atmosphere and the history of the land which is still very much in evidence. Red kites now being quite easy to spot along the South Downs now also had to make an appearance. I made the painting by the creation of lots of layers and transparent glazes which gives it a fragmented feeling. This is how it felt to me walking along in this beautiful place seeing the fragments of the present but overlaid with bits of the past. I hope I did it justice. It is painting on deep edge canvas, white edges, no frame necessary. Dedicated to all those who are working to preserve this beautiful area and its wildlife.

Apple Blossom
Description:
A fresh spring painting of an apple tree in blossom with a unique contemporary take. The metallic tones of the tree enhance the white and pink blossom petals and new green leaves against a fresh teal textured background.

Unicorn Haven
Description:
Unicorn Haven is 30x30x1.5 inches original oil painting inspired by a summer riverbank with a white horse. It is based on a stretch of the river Medway near Tunbridge Wells where I have a favourite spot. In July, this bit of the river has pink and yellow flowers along its edges and fields and trees on the opposite bank where you can see intriguing bits of wildlife and wild flowers and birds. One day there was a white horse there and, in my artists, mind it was not hard to imagine she was a unicorn. Though I base my paintings on actual places I have walked, I like to emphasize the hidden magic that is always there in nature rather than the botanical accuracies. I am enchanted by the feeling and energies of places and try to capture that â hence this painting which is almost fairy tale in its message but is never-the-less a place you can find if you walk along the river from Chafford Bridge in Fordcombe! Painted on deep edge canvas, white edges, no frame needed.
