Night Magicians is a large oil painting on canvas of three white barn owls flying across a lilac and orange twilight sky. It is contemporary art nouveau in style which you can see from the stylised shapes of the twigs and branches of the delicate white tree tops. Each of the owls (associated with the Goddess Athena by the way) is looking a different direction as if they are about to go their separate ways. Owls donât really flock together so maybe they are. Owls are elegant beautiful birds and are all the more mysterious from being so quiet and hard to spot during the day time. This idea alone was enough for me to want to paint this. It is 40x40x1.5 inches, white edges, wide edge canvas, ready to hang, no frame needed.
Leopard On The Rocks
This was my first lockdown painting which was created in a very confined space, but was well worth the effort in recreating the calculating look from this elegant and powerful animal. Interpreted from a wonderful photo, this exposes her beautiful, detailed markings as she chills on the rocks in the shade from the sun. Painted in oils on boxed canvas so no need to frame.
Blue Tit on Ivy Leaves
An adorable little blue tit perched on trailing ivy leaves. My thanks to Albert Horsborough for kind permission to use his wonderful reference photo. The blue tit (cyanistes caeruleus) is a much-loved garden and woodland bird, widespread in the UK and much of Europe, entertaining us with its agility at our back yard bird feeders. Like the chickadee, it is part of the paridae family. Derwent Lightfast and Caran d'Ache Luminance pencils on Clairefontaine Pastelmat board with Pan Pastel background. All materials used are acid free and meet the highest standards of lightfastness.

A Slice of Heaven
A Slice of Heaven is a green English landscape painting of a riverbank in spring with lacy white wildflowers and deer. On the left riverbank can be seen cow parsley white flowers almost dancing out of the painting, and on the right riverbank a delicate deer stands watching us in interest as deer do. Behind her are two more female deer waiting to take flight if their leader does so. The edges of the painting are blurred to give the feeling of the scenery floating out from the centre the canvas. I like this effect as it gives you a tantalising glimpse of an English springtime landscape suddenly appearing. The colours are mostly shades of green and white. It was inspired, as many of my recent paintings have been, by long walks along Sussex riverbanks. This one particular piece of riverbank is most like the river Rother near Salehurst TN32 5PJ. It is 40x40x1.5 inches, dark blue edges, ready to hang, no frame needed.
