Colours of Exmoor
This one is from my Exmoor series, this time on stretched canvas. I am always fascinated by the colours, textures and light of this place, by it's rough beauty. This painting reflects what I sense when I come to Exmoor, the hills, amazing views, the contrast of colours and the feeling of space. This is actually one of my favorite paintings. This painting is framed in a "floating" frame and is ready to hang.
This painting features the distant light on the hills and fields, as the clouds travels across the landscape, driven by the ever-present wind. Painted with brushes and pallet knives, lots of texture in the foreground to show the roughness and the beauty at the same time. Painted on a stretched canvas.
This was one of those misty autumn days where sun suddenly peaked out, clearing some of the mist, creating colourful patterns on the hills. I love the soft light of these days and the pastel colours. Painted on oil primed linen canvas board with brushes and palette knife using the top quality oil paints. This painting is varnished with with a retouching varnish and if desired you can have it varnished in about 4 months with the final layer of quality varnish for the best protection.
Summer Light In The Woods
This is a painting of the woods by the Gallops near Cherhill, beautiful area of countryside and rolling hills. I just loved the play of light and shade as the leaves flutter in the summer afternoon breeze, the big majestic trees and the peaceful feel of the whole place. Inviting you to stay for a while and absorb the quiet atmosphere and then take the path up that little hill to see what's up there! ;)
This is painting is of a wood near Lacock. I love this time of a year when bluebells cover the ground like a fluffy blue carpet, the leaves on the trees are still fresh and the light coming through makes it even more stunning. Painted on stretched canvas with brushes and a pallet knife, full of colours and texture.
