The Engine Houses at Crown Mine, part of the Botallack Mine site on the west coast of Cornwall and now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Botallack mines are known as submarine mines because they travel half a mine out to sea, beneath the sea bed.
It would have been a noisy and dangerous place to be, at it's peak of production of copper and arsenic, but since 1880s it has been silent. Perched on the edge of the cliff it is now a place of quiet reflection.
