Title: Beautiful
Description: 30 x 30 x 1.5 inches semi abstract landscape with a female deer in pale yellow, white, amethyst and peach. A beautiful deer stands pensively gazing off to the left of the painting in the middle of an abstract landscape. There is the hint of trees and a moon or sun behind her and even the suggestion of water and forests. I was trying for something that looked like a forest but deliberately did not paint trees as I usually do as I wanted to keep the painting all about the deer. It is totally beyond me how anyone can shoot one of these. I hope anyone seeing this may think again. The painting style is abstract, art nouveau and the paint is thick and blended giving it both a smooth and rough texture Painted on deep edge canvas - edges white, no frame needed.

Artist Biography:

I am a Sussex based artist who paints large original landscape paintings and seascape paintings in oil on canvas.

My art is painted mostly from memory after having visited somewhere beautiful and are an attempt to capture some of the essence of that place.

I gained a fine art degree from Brighton in 1983 and began my painting career as a portraitist and muralist. However, sometime in the late 90’s, after painting my 200th labrador, I realised I was crushingly bored and needed to develop my own painting style and began to paint landscapes and seascapes for my own amusement.

I am inspired by the patterns and movements of nature and animals and eventually developed a painting style that combines traditional painting techniques with more abstract and contemporary techniques.

My artworks evolve from simple ideas, usually after I have taken a walk somewhere. They are expressionistic, impressionist, art deco, art nouveau and something possibly unique to me in the feeling they evoke.

I like to think that paintings have ‘little souls’ woven into them by artist’s and that these are what call to a viewer (or not as the case may be) and give a painting presence and desirability.

My goal is to one day paint a place so beautiful I will disappear into it and never be seen again and to create worlds where others can do the same – even if only for a little while.
