LARGE ORIGINAL Oil Painting - Jungle Portal - the leopard's realm

Title: LARGE ORIGINAL Oil Painting - Jungle Portal - the leopard's realm
Description: 40 x 40 x 1.5 inches large original oil painting of a semi abstract landscape with a leopard. It is painted on a square canvas which is dark at the edges and gets lighter towards the centre giving the idea of a portal or doorway to another world. The leopard crouches on a branch waiting for something to occur. She adds a touch of realism to the glimpse you see of her jungle realm. The scene around her hints at a river and colourful plants and I wonder if I can go through this portal into this jungle or if leopard can get out... Deep edge canvas, white edges, frame not necessary.

Artist Biography:

I am a Sussex based artist who paints large original landscape paintings and seascape paintings in oil on canvas.

My art is painted mostly from memory after having visited somewhere beautiful and are an attempt to capture some of the essence of that place.

I gained a fine art degree from Brighton in 1983 and began my painting career as a portraitist and muralist. However, sometime in the late 90’s, after painting my 200th labrador, I realised I was crushingly bored and needed to develop my own painting style and began to paint landscapes and seascapes for my own amusement.

I am inspired by the patterns and movements of nature and animals and eventually developed a painting style that combines traditional painting techniques with more abstract and contemporary techniques.

My artworks evolve from simple ideas, usually after I have taken a walk somewhere. They are expressionistic, impressionist, art deco, art nouveau and something possibly unique to me in the feeling they evoke.

I like to think that paintings have ‘little souls’ woven into them by artist’s and that these are what call to a viewer (or not as the case may be) and give a painting presence and desirability.

My goal is to one day paint a place so beautiful I will disappear into it and never be seen again and to create worlds where others can do the same – even if only for a little while.
