Riding The Tide

Title: Riding The Tide
Description: Seascape painting with a difference. I've watched, mesmerised, as surfers ride the waves here in Stonehaven as well as seeing them off the coast of St Ives, Cornwall, when I was young. Artist Biography:

Born in London and brought up by the great artist Cyril Hamersma who would take me to his exhibitions and give me encouragement to create throughout my life. I took formal training in Art & Design in East Anglia, late 60s, and went on to use it in careers involving teaching and writing.

Nearly all my paintings are a compilation of images I have seen or remembered. I would never copy a photograph though I might use one as an aide memoire. The pictures develop from my love of colour, my beautiful surroundings here in Scotland, and a sometimes unstoppable imagination; together with an exuberant desire to explore and experiment with texture and paint.

Keep an eye on my website where you will see new ideas, developments and all my previous lives.

Artist News/Exhibitions:

I exhibit a variety of work in occasional shows around my home town in North East Scotland. I have taken part in NEOS (North East Open Studios) many times and I’m a member of the Scottish Artists Union.

I had a major solo exhibition in May 2013 and most of the work I exhibited there is now sold. I had the privilege to share the beautiful new studio of Frances Gilroy for NEOS 2014 where there's a stunning view of the sea and Mearns countryside. This year I will again be exhibiting in Stonehaven Library throughout September, incorporating NEOS (North East Open Studios) showing some NEW previously UNSEEN work including - especially - seascapes, both abstracted and conventional. Everything will be for sale at low (pick-up) prices, and all proceeds will go to CLAN, which is a major charity supporting people in Aberdeen and the North East who are having cancer treatment.
