An unusual depiction of a female nude with a dramatic lighting effect. The work is set in a contemporary dark mahogany effect tray frame measuring 68 cm x 48 cm x 35mm overall, strung ready for hanging. The painting is currently on display in an exhibition in Aix-en-Provence, France - though not for sale there) but can be reserved for delivery in early July. That said the current situation with the Covid 19 pandemic renders all expected dates a little out of control. Please contact me for further information.
Forest Elemental is a 36 x 48 x 1.5 inches oil on canvas of a large deer stag materialising in an autumn forest. The style is semi abstract contemporary and is highly colourful. I have used a golden yellow glaze of paint to make it glow. This painting was started after I took a walk around the Kent High Weald area near Ide Hill (postcode TN14 6JW). I did see deer and I did go through some beautifully vibrant patches of woodland that were turning gold and red as part of the autumn display. There was a smell of oak leaves (the best autumn smell!) and lots of dappled golden light. It was quite magical and that is probably why I painted the stag as a magical being rather that a mundane one. The term Elemental means a spirit or guardian that looks after certain places. I like to think this big stag was looking after the ancient trees I was walking past. One of the reasons I paint woodland scenes is that it fascinates me how the atmospheres vary from woodland to woodland. Some are calming and pleasant and some can be downright scary. It is not hard for me, therefore, to imagine some of them have spirit guardians. Painted on deep edge canvas, white edges, no frame needed
The Slipway Robin Hoods Bay
A view of Robin Hoods Bay on the East coast of Yorkshire looking towards the slipway and the ice cream van that comes down onto the beach as the tide goes out. It is painted in oils on a stretched canvas with the painting continuing around the sides so no framing is required but it could be framed if you so wish.
The Lavender Garden
This a lovely view of Whitby harbour looking over towards the Abbey on top of the cliffs with the old town nestling beneath it. I have painted it in oils on a panel. It is varnished and ready to hang if you buy it with the frame. The price includes the frame which is a 2 inch wide brown wooden frame with an inner gold line as in the photo. If you wish to buy it unframed please contact me - the price will be £435.
Dyfi estuary from Ynyslas
Celebration is an oil painting 30x48x1.5 inches of some white daises in a summer meadow at the end of a summer evening. The landscape behind the flowers shows a glowing multicoloured field with trees in the background and a golden evening light shines behind them. The daisies are painted in thick generous impasto paint with art nouveau type shapes and patterns. Spots of light or pollen rise up from the centre of the dailies as if rising to the sky. The whole scene is glowing with a golden light that is reminiscent of the last rays of the sun setting in summertime. It is called celebration because flowers mark the seasons very well and summer is time that really feels like a celebration of life. It is Painted on deep edge canvas, white edges, no frame needed, ready to hang
