Evening sunset over Perth
An unusual depiction of a female nude with a dramatic lighting effect. The work is set in a contemporary dark mahogany effect tray frame measuring 68 cm x 48 cm x 35mm overall, strung ready for hanging. The painting is currently on display in an exhibition in Aix-en-Provence, France - though not for sale there) but can be reserved for delivery in early July. That said the current situation with the Covid 19 pandemic renders all expected dates a little out of control. Please contact me for further information.
A Moment in Summer
A Moment in Summer is a large brightly coloured oil painting of a Sussex countryside landscape. It is 36x48x1.5 inches. The painting shows a view through trees across a river to wild flowers and a meadow. There is the suggestion of pink riverbank flowers in the foreground and a field of hay on the opposite bank. It is painted in a loose, semi abstract style which fits with the idea of summer in England being a beautiful but fleeting thing. It has the quality of looking like it is just forming as the edges are blurred whilst the paint towards the centre is thicker and more defined. It is an example of the style of painting I call âmemory impressionismâ as it is painted largely from my memory of that day rather than from photographs of an exact spot. The inspiration for this painting was a walk I took along the bank of the river Rother near Bodiam heading towards the hamlet of Salehurst last summer. (Park at Bodiam TN32 5UB and follow the river west). Painted on deep edge canvas, white edges, no frame needed, ready to hang.
Still Life Hydrangeas
An oil painting of some beautiful pink hydrangeas that I picked out of my garden. They are sitting on a table in a vase in front of my room window. It is painted on a 20x16 inch canvas and is painted on all sides so can be hung without a frame or you can frame it if you like. The side views have a yellow cast because they were photographed in electric light.

Somewhere Waiting is a large semi abstract square oil painting of a mythical landscape with deer (40x40x1.5 inches). The stag and three female deer, stand at the centre of the painting and there is a hint of a waterfall below them and trees and mountains above and around them. The deer are small and well defined though slightly nebulous at the same time. I often use this same little posse of deer in my paintings as they seem perfect together. Below the deer, if you look closely, you can see the outline of a much bigger stag who was painted over and has now become part of the waterfall. The painting began with a simple desire to use the colours in it which include magenta, rose, purple, lilac, pale blue, white and golden yellow. The painting worked well as an abstract landscape but I feel it is better with the little deer adding some focus to it. Most of my paintings have a story or memory attached. This one is about the spiritual nature of deer and the idea that maybe they can move between worlds and can act as guides. This idea is common to many cultures and I like it. This painting is on 3D, deep edge canvas, edges white, ready to hang, frame not needed.
