Un-breached horizon
Un-breached horizon
I went through a period of selling semi-abstract landscapes, roughly 8 years and after a while they become a process, routine and in time a tedium, many artists who whish to be commercial experience this. Ultimately I started to complete a landscape then I would abuse the finished product by dripping paint down it - it was cathartic.
This one held in my reserve collection shows the inkling to do something different to a landscape painting, I made the horizon a solid slightly impasto and thickly painted swathe - it demarcated the land and the sky overtly strongly and I feel this was one which is, a piece caught in time, reflects towards my future thought processes and actions.
It reminds me of an oil painting called ' One more bloody Sunset ' an original painting which I took with me to The other Art exhibition in London and gave away to a charming female art student who fell in love with it - softy? Maybe but it helped me get past some angst and is part of my Art Career.
Signed on the back and varnished.

Whilst painting outside in the rain I added media/paint to the surface which then washed and spread and finally formed shapes which remained, these reminded me of smoke and dust and pollution rising from an Industrial factories from 1760 to the mid to late 1800s, hence the title. I added some impasto marks to represent in a semi-abstract way the factories themselves in dark compressed tight hues and dispersal with minor flecks of colour and giving a further perception of atmosphere and depth.
