A New Summers Day
This large 36in x 36in deep edge canvas will brighten any room it hangs in. A New Summers Day is my signature painting ,but has only been painted in this size once before. Created using high quality oil paints, it has been a long time in the making due to my ill health..and could be the only one I paint for a long time. Lots of lovely textures abound in the painting. I have used a knife to create the waves--this gives a lovely textured finish, and the thick paint used to do the poppies adds more detail that stands out from the canvas.. There is a very subtle twinkle on the sea as the light catches it.. The painting continues around all of the sides and it does not require a frame.. P+P in mainland UK is included in price but personal delivery and hanging is possible, please contact me for details. NOW SOLD
Nature Unleashed is a very large oil painting on canvas of an exuberant Sussex wildflower meadow featuring the South Downs, swallows and poppies. It is 72x48x1.5 inches. The style is semi-abstract and art nouveau and is very vibrant and colourful. It was inspired by walks taken in fields and woodlands around the South Downs in summer when the wildflowers are at their best and the poppies, in particular, stand out against the green grass and reeds. The scene shows an abundance of flowers in the foreground and trees and fields leading off into the distance behind them. Two barn swallows swoop over the flowers and you can see the patterns their motion makes. Swallows are birds you see often in Sussex and they are very much woven into the landscape of summer. The painting was made from memory using reference phots to add small details here and there. Memory painting tends to reflect how I felt about a place I have been to rather than ârealisticâ details as such and I like this way of working. What I feel about an English Sussex summer is that it is beautiful and wild and I am happy I caught this feeling and in such a large canvas! The edges are dark green and it is ready to hang, no frame needed
The Room That Waits.
This is West Highland White Terrier. I tried to capture the mischievous look in his eyes and playful pose, typical for young animals. It is painted on canvas using gouache. The picture measures: 24cm x 30cm. Framing not necessary, ready to hang. This picture has a visible copyright protection which is not on the original artwork. Three Red Poppies
Contemporary painting of three red poppies set against a white background. I have textured the background with swirls of cream and coffee to set off the bright red petals of the poppies and to create a modern style. This is a simple and clean picture that would suit any living space. This painting is on standard edge canvases and has been finished with a protective satin varnish.
