Portrait of Gail
This is a portrait of my friend Gail which she commissioned me to paint for her. It stands proudly on the a wall in her house and is much admired by her family. I have included it in this gallery as I feel it to be a good example (along with the other two) of my technique in painting portraits. If you would like to commission me to paint a portrait please be advised that it will be done in the same manner (using prime colours and white only) as this one and the other two in this gallery.
A contemporary painting of a field of bright red poppies. I have textured the background with swirls of silver and graphite to set off the bright red petals of the poppies and to create a modern style. This is a simple and clean picture that would suit any living space. This painting has been finished with a protective satin varnish and is on a deep edge canvas.
Forest Elemental is a 36 x 48 x 1.5 inches oil on canvas of a large deer stag materialising in an autumn forest. The style is semi abstract contemporary and is highly colourful. I have used a golden yellow glaze of paint to make it glow. This painting was started after I took a walk around the Kent High Weald area near Ide Hill (postcode TN14 6JW). I did see deer and I did go through some beautifully vibrant patches of woodland that were turning gold and red as part of the autumn display. There was a smell of oak leaves (the best autumn smell!) and lots of dappled golden light. It was quite magical and that is probably why I painted the stag as a magical being rather that a mundane one. The term Elemental means a spirit or guardian that looks after certain places. I like to think this big stag was looking after the ancient trees I was walking past. One of the reasons I paint woodland scenes is that it fascinates me how the atmospheres vary from woodland to woodland. Some are calming and pleasant and some can be downright scary. It is not hard for me, therefore, to imagine some of them have spirit guardians. Painted on deep edge canvas, white edges, no frame needed
I LOVE this painting! The photos really don't do it justice..there are so many colours going on in it..it really is one of my favourite ones ever! The method I have used means that the acrylic paint becomes very unpredictable and there is no knowing how it will end up... I used pure silicon, pure alcohol and a blow torch to create it!! Every time you look at it you will see something new..so many 'cells' containing colours--the metallic ones catch the light beautifully. At the moment it is hanging in a nearby exhibition, but I can take it out if it sells from here.. I have chosen to hang it the way up you see it but you may decide to hang it another way..it is entirely up to you.. It measures 24in x 24in and comes ready to hang in your home or office, It is much more vibrant than it appears on here..the colours really pop out from the canvas,,
Deep Blue 1
This is another composition in the "Splendour Of Colours" series. Its magnificent colours enhance the depth of shades and the combination of the elements involved in this composition. It comes as a smaller version of Majestic Deep Blue. It is mounted on canvas and is ready to hang as landscape or portrait. The composition measures: 30x40cm/12x16. Framing not necessary, ready to hang. If you choose to purchase it with its bigger version Majestic Deep Blue, you can buy both of the canvases for reduced price of £175.
The Kilns, Porthwen Brick Works
Decorative hand made tree made from copper wire and pretty rainbow coloured beads. Its mounted on a small painted canvas to form a base. Under lights or in a window this little tree really shines, throwing out rainbow reflections, prisms of light. It's six and a half inches high and four and a half inches wide, including the base.
