Great Horned Owl
A great horned owl peers from amongst the white oak foliage - perhaps getting ready to settle down to rest after a night's hunting. My thanks to Jennie Norris for the reference photograph of the owl. Widely distributed in the Americas, the Great Horned Owl (Bubo virginianus) is also known as the tiger owl or hoot owl. It is the second heaviest owl in North America, after the snowy owl, and its well-camouflaged plumage varies considerably across its range. The large, powerful talons are capable of exerting 300 pounds of pressure per square inch. Those tufts of feathers that give rise to the species' name are thought to be used to give visual cues when interacting with other owls. This original pencil drawing by Elaine Jones was made with Faber Castell Polychromos, Caran d'Ache Pablo and Luminance pencils on Clairefontaine Pastelmat paper. Image measures approximately 37cm x 29cm, unframed.
Stormy Poppies lll
A storm aproaching, the skies and sea are grey. The grasses and poppies are starting to blow in the wind.. The waves are gathering pace and stand out from the canvas as do the poppies. I have used high quality canvas and oil paints to create this scene which is based on some memories from holidays in Wales.. It comes ready to hang although I have left the edges of the painting white. Delivery on Mainland UK is free

SUNFLOWERS IN BLUE VASE
This is a very detailed and realistic painting of sunflowers - a taste of the warmth of the south of France in the home. Meticulously painted to make the viewer feel almost able to reach out and touch the petals and leaves. It is set in a light coloured contemporary tray frame measuring 68cm x 68cm x 35mm overall.
Steam Train in the Sidings
An old Great Western Railway Train in the sidings at the end of a smokey London day. An impressionist-style watercolour painted in 3 colours: raw sienna, cadmium red and french ultramarine. Signed and dated by the artist. This painting comes already framed in a 70mm high quality mount (charcoal inner 5mm and cream outer 65mm). The frame is dark oak with an inner gold trim. The total size framed is 540 x 440mm.
